Beran Conference 2026 day two – “open, collaborative interactions between machinery experts from around the world”
Delegates praise the technical insight, product demonstrations and international expertise shared at Beran’s exclusive condition monitoring event
Kudos to Beran for the developments made to the systems for the benefit of the customers.
Day two of the Beran Conference 2026 concluded with plaudits from delegates delighted at the depth of technical insight they gained from the exclusive event.
The two-day conference – only the fifth of its kind in 17 years – helped engineers to explore cutting-edge developments in condition and vibration monitoring.
Expert presenters outlined a range of developments in monitoring critical rotating assets, such as steam, gas and hydro turbines in power generation.
For the first time, the event was held at Beran HQ in Torrington, North Devon, UK – enabling delegates to meet the team behind the company’s innovations.
It has been a fantastic conference – a unique opportunity to bring so many leading industry experts together,” said Duncan Affleck, Beran’s Global Sales and Business Development Manager.
“The technical expertise of all concerned has delivered some valuable insights. It will help the power generation sector to further enhance safety and performance over coming years.
Day two of the Beran Conference 2026 included:
- Adam Shingles, RWE Flexible Generation – Rotating Plant Dynamics Across Critical Generation Assets, sharing insight from RWE’s rotating equipment engineering team across steam turbines, gas turbines and generators.
- Ieuan Mogridge and Ahmed Khan, EDF Energy – High-Frequency Vibration of Emergency Boiler Feed Pump Pipework, a detailed investigation using Beran’s PlantProtech™ PROTOR Mobile for measurement and analysis.
- Douglas Graham, Group Engineering Director, CMTG – Developments to the PlantProtech™ 7600 PCMS Protection System, covering advanced monitoring of critical assets.
- Peter Morrish, Technology and Customer Support Manager, CMTG – Putting Live Plant Data to Work – the PlantProtech™ 7600 PCMS API, a practical look at how rapid, purpose-built applications can support analysis, measurement and monitoring.
- Professor Aly El-Shafei, RITEC – Oil Whirl and Oil Whip Instabilities, drawing on decades of turbomachinery troubleshooting experience, including recent high-speed test rig research.
- Roger Van Velzen, Beran Software Team Lead; Charlotte Hone, CMTG Product Development Manager; and Robbie Leggett, Beran Software Test Engineer – Evolution of Web Interface, previewing new web concepts and developments.
- Anil Balan, Uniper UK – Post-Outage Steam Turbine Restart With Severe Rubbing, a practical case study covering observations, risk assessment, response and resolution.
- Aidan Roche, Technical Manager, Rotating Machinery, Suez UK – EFW Plants – Challenges in Adopting Condition Monitoring and Reliability Strategies, exploring practical considerations around applying condition monitoring within energy-from-waste environments.
- Conference wrap and learnings – an opportunity for delegates and presenters to share feedback, reflect on the event and discuss key takeaways.
Delegates were thoroughly impressed. Their post-event comments included:
