A joint investigation into high-frequency vibration using Beran PlantProtech™ PROTOR Mobile
We are pleased to confirm that Ieuan Mogridge and Ahmed Khan, both from EDF Energy, will be presenting jointly at Beran Conference 2026 at Beran HQ in Torrington, North Devon, on 1 and 2 July 2026.
Ieuan Mogridge is a Rotating Plant and Dynamics Engineer at EDF Energy with over 20 years of experience in the power industry. He brings extensive knowledge of vibration instrumentation, measurement and diagnostics across a wide range of plant and machinery.
Ahmed Khan is a Dynamics Engineer at EDF Energy Nuclear Services, where he supports major rotating plant across the nuclear fleet. He has built his experience in vibration measurement, dynamics analysis and condition monitoring of critical power generation assets over three years with EDF Energy.
Presentation: High-frequency vibration of emergency boiler feed pump pipework
During an infrequently performed test at an EDF Energy site, operators noted an unusually high-pitched noise emanating from Emergency Boiler Feed Pump pipework. The central dynamics team were asked to investigate the source of the noise and establish whether damage was occurring.
This joint presentation covers the full investigative process: instrumentation installation using a Beran PlantProtech™ PROTOR Mobile, measurement of the noise, analysis of the results and the conclusions reached. It is a detailed, practical case study that demonstrates the value of portable condition monitoring equipment in diagnosing complex vibration and noise issues in operational plant.
About EDF Energy
EDF Energy is one of the UK's largest electricity producers, operating a fleet of nuclear power stations that provide a significant proportion of the country's low-carbon generation. EDF's engineering teams work across some of the most technically demanding environments in the energy sector, maintaining and monitoring critical rotating plant, turbines and generators to the highest standards of reliability and safety. At Beran Conference 2026, EDF Energy is represented by engineers from both its power generation and nuclear services divisions.
