Beran signs framework agreement with Engie Laborelec for TORSO torsional vibration solutions

Engie Laborelec has signed a framework agreement with Beran (CMTG Group), enabling Beran to market Laborelec's TORSO Detect and TORSO Protect torsional vibration solutions to UK customers. The agreement was signed on 21 June by Engie Laborelec CEO Michael Marique and Douglas Graham, Operations Director at CMTG and Beran.

Addressing torsional vibration risk in shaft lines

The addition of the two TORSO products to Beran's portfolio of online vibration condition monitoring and protection systems gives UK customers access to the same torsional vibration monitoring capability that Engie Laborelec customers across Europe already benefit from.

Torsional vibration is among the most harmful conditions for turbo groups, yet it is too often overlooked or under-monitored. That is changing, driven by the growing interaction of wind and solar power and power electronics with national and regional grids. With grid circumstances constantly changing and the inflow of renewables reducing grid inertia, the risk of torsional vibration causing serious machinery failures is significantly higher than it once was.

The introduction and need to increase and support renewables in the energy mix is well appreciated by Engie Laborelec. But at the same time we also need to be aware of and focus on the challenges and practical impacts this creates down the line. For this reason, we are happy to be able to share our TORSO solutions with Beran for their UK customers and look forward to a fruitful and ongoing collaboration — with the potential for sharing or exchanging other solutions useful to both our markets. Operational peace of mind and forwarding the energy transition need to go hand in hand.
