Helitune signs Design and Manufacturing Agreement with Leonardo Helicopters for upgraded RT-TipTrak
Helitune has entered into a Design and Manufacturing Agreement (DMA) with Leonardo Helicopters for a new and improved version of the RT-TipTrak — the optical rotor blade tracker previously selected as standard, permanent fit onboard the AW189 and AW169 aircraft.
A new generation RT-TipTrak
The new Multi-Configuration RT-TipTrak is an integral part of the Leonardo Helicopters Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS). Key developments over the previous version include:
- Sleek machined casting with upgraded hardware and improved software
- Configured for interchangeability between multiple platforms
- Intelligent onboard software that detects the aircraft to which it is fitted and loads the appropriate configuration automatically
- Standard fit for the AW189 and AW169, with AW139 compatibility in development
How the RT-TipTrak works
The RT-TipTrak uses advanced Line Scan imaging technology to measure rotor blade track at the blade tip — regarded in the helicopter industry as the optimum point of measurement. It can be used with other Helitune sensors as part of a carry-on Rotor Track and Balance (RTB) system or as part of an onboard HUMS installation.
- Fully compatible with SAE AS5394 (RITA) data transfer protocols
- Advanced blade recognition technology eliminates the need for tip targets or blade repainting
- Compatible with RT-6, HT-VHM, RT-2000 and RT-5JS+ systems
- Available in a day-only configuration or with an optional removable night mode illuminator
