Eggborough Power Station selects Beran for turbine generator vibration monitoring

Eggborough Power Station has awarded Beran Instruments a contract to supply an online turbine generator vibration monitoring solution, with PlantProtech systems installed across all four turbine-generator units and main boiler feed pumps.

The installation

The Beran PlantProtech systems at Eggborough consist of four Master/Slave 766 Analysers and four 768 Analysers, monitoring over 60 vibration channels per turbine-generator unit and 12 vibration channels for each of the four main boiler feed pumps.

Process data is provided by the station's Distributed Control System via the Beran OPC Interface, enabling the PlantProtech systems to monitor 1,200 vibration channels simultaneously across the site.

Training

To ensure Eggborough site engineers could make full use of the system, Beran delivered a three-day Vibration Training Course at its headquarters in North Devon, followed by an on-site training day covering vibration theory and Beran system operation.
