DJB Instruments introduces the A/140 range — industrial-grade accelerometers combining Konic Shear® precision with affordability
A new benchmark for industrial vibration monitoring
DJB Instruments UK Ltd is redefining expectations in the industrial accelerometer market with the launch of the A/140 series — a rugged, cost-effective range of IEPE accelerometers powered by DJB’s exclusive Konic Shear® technology.
Traditionally focused on advanced test and measurement solutions for the automotive, aerospace, and defence industries, DJB is now entering the competitive low-cost vibration monitoring space. This expansion brings world-class performance, trusted by engineers for decades, into the broader industrial machine health sector.
Precision engineering at a lower cost
The A/140 offers a 100mV/g IEPE single-axis accelerometer starting at an exceptionally competitive price. Unlike standard compression or shear plate designs, DJB’s Konic Shear® technology provides superior cross-axis error control — a critical factor in long-term sensor accuracy. This improvement is delivered without adding cost, offering users a substantial performance advantage over similarly priced alternatives.
Built for durability and versatility
Each A/140 accelerometer is sealed to IP67, constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, and weighs only 85g — around 25% lighter than many competitors. A low noise floor enhances measurement precision, while a wide choice of cabling configurations ensures seamless integration into existing setups.
Product variants include:
- A/140 – Top entry, 2-pin Mil-C-5015 connector
- A/140/C – Integral top entry cable
- A/140/SC – Integral side entry cable
- A/140/W – Waterproof, integral top entry cable
- A/140/SW – Waterproof, integral side entry cable

Engineered for long-term accuracy
Gary Chadwick, DJB’s Operations Manager, commented:
Konic Shear® continues to deliver reliable cross-axis performance — even as polarisation in piezoelectric materials degrades over time. It prevents the 40% errors that can creep into traditional sensors, a key factor often overlooked in machine monitoring.
Performance you can trust
Managing Director of DJB Instruments, added:
“Our high-temperature accelerometers have supported the UK’s power generation sector for over 40 years. With the A/140, we’re bringing that same level of performance and reliability to the wider industrial market — at a price point never seen before.”
