Calibration

We have a purpose-built in-house calibration and measurement facility that provides calibrations traceable to National Standards. We calibrate both charge and IEPE accelerometers, as well as signal-conditioning equipment, for all manufacturers and recommend this annually, although many of our customers prefer every 6 months. Our standard calibration service includes a sweep from 10Hz to 10kHz (or the accelerometer's upper limit if less than 10kHz) under controlled ambient conditions. We also include a cross-axis check (other labs rarely check this). We can also offer calibration in more extreme environments; extended sweeps from 2Hz to 15kHz, high temperature and high pressure.

Accelerometers can last for decades if properly maintained; however, regular calibration is important, and things can change over time. This is your opportunity to check the accelerometer for correct operation and to ensure it has suffered no damage in its day-to-day handling and use. Critical points to check are "cross-axis error", which should be less than 5%. Other calibration facilities do not always check this, and it is the biggest source of error in older accelerometers. Other points to consider at calibration are temperature and frequency range. Ensure the calibration results reflect the operating range of your application; if in doubt, ask our engineers to explain the details of the calibration.

Our calibration service is usually between 1 and 3 days. Please get in touch with us for a quotation and turnaround time.

Accelerometer calibration

Precision you can trust: Accelerometer calibration services

Ensure the accuracy and reliability of your measurements with DJB Instruments' expert calibration services.

Comprehensive calibration solutions

At DJB Instruments, we offer in-house calibration services traceable to National Standards. Our facility is equipped to calibrate both charge and IEPE accelerometers, as well as signal conditioning equipment from all manufacturers.

Regular calibration is vital to maintain the performance and longevity of your equipment.

Our standard calibration service includes:

  • Frequency sweep from 10Hz to 10kHz (or upper limit of the accelerometer if less than 10kHz) under controlled ambient conditions.
  • Optional extended services: frequency sweeps from 1Hz to 15kHz, high-temperature, and high-pressure calibrations.

Realistic turnaround times

Our typical turnaround time is approximately one week, depending on the number of devices and the current workload. We strive to complete calibrations promptly without compromising quality.

Why regular calibration matters

Accelerometers can remain functional for decades if properly maintained. However, age, usage, and environmental conditions can affect their performance. Regular calibration helps:

  • Ensure accuracy across the required temperature and frequency ranges.
  • Identify any damage or degradation in performance.

Our expert engineers are available to discuss your specific calibration needs and ensure your equipment operates within desired parameters.
