CMTG named Manufacturer of the Year at the North Devon Manufacturing Awards 2026
We're delighted to share that CMTG has been named Manufacturer of the Year at the 27th annual North Devon Manufacturing Awards – the top award of the night, sponsored by North Devon College.
The awards took place on Thursday 15 October at The Pier House, bringing together businesses, apprentices, educators and community partners from across the region to celebrate the very best of North Devon manufacturing.
An award for the whole Torrington team
This award recognises the whole Torrington team, from the shop floor and engineering to quality, purchasing, stores, sales and support. It means even more after all the team has achieved in bringing new product lines into Torrington.
This award belongs to every one of our people. To be singled out among so many excellent North Devon manufacturers is something we should all be genuinely proud of, and I want to thank the whole team for their effort and commitment.
Tim Puttick, General Manager, CMTG
More recognition on the night
It wasn't our only success of the evening:
- Josh Parr was named runner-up for Apprentice of the Year, a brilliant and well-deserved achievement, and a great reflection of the talent coming through our apprenticeship programme. Congratulations, Josh!
- Helitune was runner-up for International Trader of the Year, recognising the hard work behind our export business and the global reach of what we do from here in North Devon.
Celebrating North Devon manufacturing
North Devon is home to a remarkable community of manufacturers, from global engineering businesses to specialist firms, and the evening was a great reminder of the skill, innovation and collaboration across the region.
Hosted by The Voice Radio's Laura James, the evening opened with the NDMA Schools STEM Awards, where local primary schools built spaghetti-and-marshmallow bridges strong enough to hold raw eggs – proof that tomorrow's engineers are already hard at work.
John Laramy CBE DL, Principal and CEO of Exeter & North Devon College, spoke about the importance of apprenticeships and encouraged manufacturers to keep working closely with the college to develop the skills the region needs. Guests also heard a thought-provoking keynote from Stephen Roberts, Chief Executive of North Devon Hospice.
Congratulations to all this year's winners and runners-up, including Eaton Aerospace, TDK-Lambda, Accord UK, Krempel, Smart Manufacturing and Systems Engineering & Assessment. It was a privilege to be recognised alongside such a strong field. Even the trophies were a local affair, handmade by Bideford-based SP Furniture.
Giving back
The evening's raffle raised over £1,200 for North Devon Hospice, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and guests.
Thank you
A big thank you to the North Devon Manufacturers Association, North Devon College, all the award sponsors and everyone who made the evening such a success. Most of all, thank you to our team – this one's yours.
