Description
Measuring and analysing vibration from rotating machinery is vital for understanding the health, performance and condition of a machine. Vibration can be caused by unbalanced rotating parts, misaligned shafts, worn bearings or loose components. By finding the cause early, engineers can take action to avoid failure, reduce downtime, improve efficiency and extend the life of equipment.
DATS Rotating Machinery is an add-on for DATS-core with a complete set of tools for analysing noise and vibration caused by cyclic forces, such as those in engines, gearboxes and wheel excitation. It also unlocks additional real-time displays in DATS-Acquisition, so you can view and evaluate data during tests.
Time-sampled analysis
Carry out classical waterfall analysis, producing frequency spectra related to the speed of rotation, with comprehensive tacho conditioning. Waterfalls and orders can be visualised in many ways, and band-pass filtering and envelope analysis can be used for bearing analysis.
Synchronous (order domain) analysis
A range of synchronous analyses let you view data in the order domain. A discrete Fourier transform (DFT) can extract orders directly, and data sampled at a fixed time rate can be resampled using the tacho as the synchronous marker, so that every cycle has the same number of samples.
Torsional vibration and twist
Advanced tacho analysis makes torsional vibration and twist analysis straightforward, which is essential for understanding rotational vibration issues in gearboxes and powertrains.
Analysis functions included
- Time-sampled data: average waterfalls, speed signal from tacho, extract orders and overall level, generate waterfall (with or without phase) and equalisation order filter
- Advanced tacho analysis: angular vibration from tacho, tacho crossing times and checks, tacho ideal equivalent, tacho to time periods, and raw, average period, smooth curve-fitted and interpolated speeds
- Synchronously sampled data: angular vibration of shaft, asynchronous to synchronous conversion, order waterfall (with or without phase), synchronous orders, average cycle, cycle statistics and tacho synthesis
- Order domain analysis: auto and cross spectral density, DFT, FFT, multiple spectrum RMS level, spectrum level, spectrum RMS over order range, transfer function, and zoom transfer, auto and cross spectral density
- Time-frequency analysis: Born-Jordan, Wigner-Ville and Zhao-Atlas-Marks, with mother wavelet generation and wavelet transforms
