Description
Hammer impact testing is used by vibration engineers to assess the dynamic response and mechanical integrity of a structure or component. It identifies resonant and natural frequencies and mode shapes, giving insight into how a structure behaves under load. It's an important tool for preventing failure and ensuring safety in industries such as aerospace, automotive and construction, and for validating simulation models against real, measured data.
DATS Hammer Impact is an add-on for DATS-core that guides you through the whole process of making these measurements. It's also the software at the heart of the DATS-HITS hammer impact test system.
Set up quickly
Transducer gain, sensitivity and triggering are set up using the familiar DATS signal setup. A pre-test wizard then helps you set the trigger level, response window weighting and force window profile, and pre-test displays of time histories and FFT spectra let you check your input signals before you start.
Full control of every test
You stay in control of every aspect of the test, including:
- frequency range and resolution
- force and exponential window settings
- number of averages at each measurement point
- automatic rejection of overloads
- use of the Prosig remote keypad
See results after every impact
Immediately after each impact, the latest FRF is displayed together with the accumulated average, and you can overlay a reference FRF if needed. If an impact isn't right, such as a double hit, you can discard it and remove it from the average.
Measured FRFs are stored in numbered datasets, and you choose whether to keep just the FRFs or the coherence spectra and time histories too. The results can be animated straight away in DATS Structural Animation.
The package can also be used for other applications that need triggered acquisition, immediate data inspection and frequency response measurements.
