Electrical Installations & Service Engineer

The role

Reporting to the Electrical Installation and Service Team Leader, the Electrical Installations Technician will be based at our Torrington facility and will undertake Installation and Maintenance of our advanced vibration monitoring systems within UK and International Power Stations for industry leading power generation utilities.

We are looking for someone with a background in Electrical Engineering that has experience with Industrial Control & Instrumentation system installations – the key to success in this role will be awareness of the importance of Health & Safety at work, a willingness to learn and to work as part of a team.  It is not necessary to have a background from within the Power Generation Industry, as we will provide you with the necessary training.

This position offers expansive opportunities that require travel as a fundamental element of the job, encompassing both national and international destinations. We're on the lookout for candidates who have a zest for new experiences and thrive on the excitement of discovering new places. Expect to dedicate approximately 50% of your working hours to our Torrington office, while the remainder will be spent on assignments at various off-site locations.

We're in search of a candidate who is able to work in close co-operation with our manufacturing, engineering, project management, customer support and sales teams to ensure our vibration monitoring systems are installed and commissioned correctly and on-time.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Assembly & Testing: Assemble and wire electrical enclosures in compliance with BS 7671 standards (or equivalent). This process culminates in Factory Acceptance Testing at our Torrington office.
  • On-site Installation & Verification: Installation and verification of electrical enclosures, vibration sensors, and associated sensor cables, ensuring completion up to Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Maintenance & Calibration: Calibrate, service, and repair vibration sensors and related instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborative Scoping & Estimation: Collaborate intensively with our in-house commercial, engineering, and manufacturing teams to accurately scope and estimate installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Safety & Documentation: Generate comprehensive Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Installation documentation to ensure safety and clarity in all operations

Experience/Qualifications

  • Electronic or Electrical apprenticeship: Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent in electronic equipment manufacture or electrical installations.
  • Qualifications: BTEC in Electronics or Electrical qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2365)
  • IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Proven experience: with an electrical, manufacturing or engineering organisation
