The role
DJB Instruments (UK) Limited (DJB) has been manufacturing IEPE & charge accelerometers, cables, instrumentation and accessories since 1974 and is committed to improving vibration and sensing data accuracy for its customer base through precision engineering and manufacturing.
The Company is seeking to recruit a Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE) Engineer to plan and execute the QHSE strategy of the business. The QHSE Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and effectiveness of the company's quality management systems. DJB, a subsidiary of Condition Monitoring Technology Group (CMTG), is situated in the spectacular and diverse region of Suffolk and as well as being close to Cambridge, Norwich and Thetford Forest Park, the nearby Suffolk Coast & Heaths and Dedham Vale are both nationally designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
You will be a member of a supportive, hard-working team within a growing sales-orientated engineering organisation where a combination of world-class, highly innovative products, robust engineering processes, and use of the latest technologies combine to support our customers, operating within some of the most highly regulated industrial and aerospace sectors worldwide.
This role is ideal for a quality engineer with experience in ISO9001 quality management systems, someone who is process driven with strong attention to detail and a background in the automotive, aerospace, military or industrial sectors.
The successful applicant will support the business to ensure that a high level of product and process quality is maintained at all times. They will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives throughout the company as well as leading certification and rectification activities with auditing bodies.
Additionally, the QHSE Engineer will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction with regard to the products and services provided by DJB Instruments and will work with the General Manager to ensure that the company complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Purpose
Main responsibilities
- Lead, monitor and improve QHSE performance within the business.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 quality standards including the auditing of internal processes.
- Work with the team to complete all necessary risk assessments and ensure that any mitigating actions are completed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Carry out incoming goods and in-process quality inspections.
- Ensure test equipment is maintained along with the calibration and asset registers.
- Ensure appropriate health and safety requirements are met, monitored and improved.
- Ensure processes are robust and adhered to and carry out internal audits on the processes.
- Undertake root cause analysis of customer complaints and non-compliances and implement actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Identify and carry out actions to improve the sustainability and environmental responsibilities of the business.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on safety practices and minimising risk within the workplace.

Experience
Essential
- Robust understanding of ISO9001 quality management systems.
- ONC/HNC mechanical, manufacturing or electronics engineering.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining QHSE systems within a manufacturing business.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of QHSE legislation and best practice
- A hands-on and proactive attitude to quality and health and safety.
- Experience working closely with internal and external customers.
- Good understanding of electro/mechanical manufacturing, assembly & test processes.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal, communications and presentation skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally, as required.
