The role

We are looking for a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer based at our Torrington facility, situated in the spectacular and diverse region of North Devon. The area benefits from unique natural features such as the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designated coastline and Exmoor National Park.

You will be joining a multi-functional team within an engineering organisation with strong links across industry and academia, where a combination of world-class, highly innovative products, robust engineering processes, and use of the latest technologies combine to support our customers, operating within some of the most highly regulated industries and aerospace sectors worldwide. Purpose

As a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer working at CMTG you will have the opportunity to both support our range of existing products and shape the future of the products you are tasked to develop, within either the Helitune or Beran portfolios. You will own the design, development, and verification activities, ensuring the needs of the customer are met.

Responsibilities

  • To take ownership of electronics hardware engineering activities and outcomes and be able to effectively work with all functions of the business, to ensure the successful delivery of tasks
  • Generation of product architectures that are capable of meeting the input design requirements
  • To liaise directly with customers (including occasional UK and International travel) to understand requirements and determine suitable architectures to enable the generation of technical proposals
  • To support the development, discussion, and presentation of customer proposals
  • To mentor junior colleagues as appropriate, including motivation and empowerment in order to aid their professional development
  • To understand the safety implications of their role and manage, apply, and improve safe systems of work
  • To take an active role in continuous improvement activities
  • To carry out and record the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) necessary to maintain and enhance competence in Electronics Engineering
  • To actively engage in international Engineering Forums to extend their knowledge of the state of the art
  • To work closely with the Engineering Leadership Team to ensure that project and business-wide targets are met
  • To be highly motivated towards providing an end product/service that meets or exceeds expectations

Experience

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of the following electronics disciplines
    • Digital / Analogue / Power Electronics
    • PCB Design and Layout
    • Microcontroller / DSP Software
    • Design for EMC and Environmental Compliance
    • Design for safety, manufacturability, reliability
  • Experience in electronic product qualification and certification to EMC and environmental standards (CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH, DO-160, Mil-Std-461/810)
  • Experience working in a high-integrity environment, such as aerospace or industrial safety would be beneficial.

Desirable

  • An understanding of vibration data acquisition systems (or similar) and/or associated technologies (sensor interface, embedded computing, user interface design, data management, systems engineering)
  • An understanding of vibration condition monitoring systems and principles (online vibration monitoring, turbine supervisory equipment, Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS)

Qualifications

Qualified to Degree level in Electronic Engineering.
