Test Technician

The role

The Company is seeking to recruit a Test Technician based at our Torrington facility. The role of the Test Technician is to assist with the testing, calibration, and repair of equipment across both the Beran and Helitune Product range. To support off-site activity, including installation and commissioning of Beran and Customer equipment, and to assist and lead Off-site Teams to install, commission, test, and calibrate Beran and customer equipment.

Key objectives

  • To undertake fault-finding and the repair of complex analogue and digital circuits to the component level
  • To calibrate/test Beran and Helitune products to appropriate specifications.
  • To support off-site product installation and commissioning, including the preparation of customer reports as required.

Main responsibilities

The following list is an indication of the responsibilities of the role, which the post holder will be expected to undertake. 

The list is not exhaustive and is intended as guidance only:

  • To ensure the quality of Company products by rigorous and conscientious testing, following Company documentation and procedures.
  • To diagnose and repair faulty electrical/electronic products to board level (Debug).
  • To timely turnaround customer repairs, calibrations, and upgrades.
  • To actively suggest improvements for cost savings in the manufacturing and test processes.
  • Ensure Internal Works Orders files and Return Material Authorisation (RMA) files are properly maintained and completed.
  • To ensure Works Orders are closed out in a timely manner.
  • To perform transducer calibration activities both on and off-site
  • To work off-site with the Installations Team
  • To prepare off-site documentation
  • To lead off-site work as required
  • To effectively liaise with customers and colleagues as required
  • Ensure adequate and suitable documentation is available and created for all off-site activities including risk assessments and method statements as required
  • To ensure work is completed within standard times and to a high quality
  • To maintain the integrity of the RMA system
  • To ensure compliance with 6S principles
  • To ensure Company Health & Safety and quality procedures are being followed.
  • To participate in Company improvement activities
  • To actively improve Company documentation and processes to ensure the product is built and tested to a high-quality standard through the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process
  • To provide guidance and assistance to others as required
  • To assist Line Managers in their duties
  • To liaise with employees at all levels and within all departments
  • Assist other departments within the Operations Department as directed
  • Ensure documentation is correctly completed in accordance with Group policy.
  • To assist the Engineering Department in the development of products and building processes
