- Hours: 38.5 hours per week (9-month Fixed Term Contract)

About the role
We are looking for a proactive and strategic Management Accountant to take the lead in shaping and embedding financial strategies that drive business performance. This is a key role that will help strengthen our financial management processes while promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency across the organisation. By providing insightful analysis and financial guidance, you will ensure that financial decisions align with our overall business strategy.
In this role, you will play a vital part in creating an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing finance function. With a strong strategic vision and a focus on operational excellence, you will drive financial efficiency while ensuring that our financial policies, reporting standards, and cost management practices align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
Financial reporting and analysis
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to prepare monthly Management Accounts for all Group subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyse financial performance and provide insightful reporting to the Finance Manager to enable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Maintain processes for financial reporting, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements across all Group subsidiaries.
Ledger and financial operations
- Oversee Sales, Purchase, and Nominal Ledger functions across UK and US operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer invoices and transactions.
- Work with the Finance Manager to manage supplier payments, reconciliations, and query resolution to maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Supervise month-end procedures for both Sales and Purchase Ledgers, ensuring all reconciliations are completed.
Inventory and cost analysis
- Work closely with the Operations team to monitor inventory and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Review performance variances for subsidiary manufacturing and service operations.
Compliance and statutory reporting
- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns, Sales Tax returns, Customs Declarations, and other external statutory reports for the UK and US.
- Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations, liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
Process improvement and team leadership
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes and reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to Finance Assistants.
- Uphold company policies, including HR and compliance procedures, within the Finance Department.

Building strong relationships comes naturally, and you excel at creating collaboration across departments. You work with integrity and professionalism, ensuring financial data is handled with care and accuracy while maintaining a high level of accountability.
To be successful in this role, you will likely be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or have equivalent experience. A strong background in management accounting within an engineering or manufacturing environment, along with expertise in financial reporting, cost accounting, and compliance requirements. You must be highly proficient in financial systems and Excel, with experience in ERP systems being advantageous.
